Stage 2: Arenalet d'Albarca - Betlem
The stage
In this stage of the Ruta Artà - Lluc GR 222 from S'Arenalet d'Albarca you head towards the Bay of Alcúdia, walkingthrough solitary valleys filled with seas of Mauritanian grass and theremains of battered terraces and houses where many people in the Artà region had to leave their illusions behind. Halfway you will see proof of the republican prisoners' work, prisoners who were condemned to build a road leading nowhere under inhuman conditions, as well as signs of hermits who prayed and worked for years on these barren lands.
All surrounded by an enchanting landscape with the sea always around the corner and the island Menorca and the Tramuntana range in a distance.
